Introduction
Turnis (“we,” “our,” or “us”) has developed this Privacy Policy to inform users of the Turnis mobile application (the “App”) how we collect, use, store, and disclose personal data when they use the App and any related services, including but not limited to club management, tournament organization, match tracking, and player rankings (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy applies to all users visiting or using the App (the “Users”).
Protecting Users’ privacy and safeguarding their personal data is paramount to us.
Definitions
- Personal Data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person, such as name, email address, or a unique device identifier.
- Usage Data refers to data collected automatically when using the App, such as device information, IP address, and interaction data.
- User means the individual accessing or using the App.
- Club Organizer means a User who creates or manages a club or tournament within the App.
- App refers to the Turnis mobile application.
- Services refers to all features and functionality provided through the App.
Types of Personal Data Collected
Information You Provide Directly
When you create an account and use the App, we may collect the following:
- Account Data: name, email address, and profile photo, collected during account creation and used for identification within the App.
- User-Generated Content: club names, club descriptions, club logos, tournament names, match scores, and other content you create within the App.
- Authentication Data: when you sign in using Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or email, we receive your name, email address, and a unique identifier from the authentication provider. We do not receive or store your third-party account passwords.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use the App, we automatically collect:
- Device Information: device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
- User ID: a unique identifier assigned to your account.
- Crash and Diagnostic Data: error logs and diagnostic information collected through Sentry, our crash reporting service, to help us identify and fix technical issues.
- Push Notification Tokens: if you enable push notifications, we collect device tokens to deliver notifications to your device.
Purposes of Collecting User Data
User Personal Data may be collected for the following purposes:
- Providing the Services: to create and manage User accounts, enable Users to create and join clubs and tournaments, track match results, display scores and rankings.
- Communication: to send push notifications about tournament updates, match results, new challenges, and club activity. To send transactional communications essential for the functioning of the Services, such as account confirmations and important platform updates.
- Customer Support: to respond to User inquiries and provide assistance.
- Improvement and Analysis: to monitor and analyze usage in order to improve the App and the Services.
- Crash Reporting and Maintenance: to identify, diagnose, and fix technical issues and bugs.
- Security: to detect and prevent malicious or fraudulent activity, and to protect the rights and safety of Users.
Data Sharing with Club Organizers
The App allows Club Organizers to create and manage clubs and tournaments. When a User joins a club or registers for a tournament, the User accepts that the Club Organizer will have access to certain Personal Data, including the User’s name, profile photo, match results, and rankings. This data sharing is essential for the functioning of the Services.
Club Organizers are visible to club members and tournament participants. Users should be aware that their name, profile photo, and match activity will be visible to other members of clubs and tournaments they participate in.
Who Are the Recipients of User Data?
We do not sell User Personal Data. We may share User information in the following circumstances:
- With Other Users: your name, profile photo, match results, and rankings are visible to other members of clubs and tournaments you join. This is essential to the functionality of the App.
- With Club Organizers: as described in the section above.
- With Service Providers: we use third-party services that process data on our behalf:
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) — for crash reporting and error tracking. Receives crash data and device information. Sentry Privacy Policy
- Apple — for Apple Sign-In authentication. Apple Privacy Policy
- Google — for Google Sign-In authentication. Google Privacy Policy
- Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — for delivering push notifications.
- Legal Requirements: we may disclose User information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect User safety, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
Legal Basis for Processing
We will only collect and use User Personal Data when we have a legal basis for doing so:
- Consent: where the User has given consent for one or more specific purposes, such as receiving push notifications. Users can withdraw consent at any time.
- Performance of a Contract: processing necessary for the performance of the Services, such as account creation, club management, and tournament participation.
- Legitimate Interests: processing necessary for our legitimate interests, such as improving the App, ensuring security, and preventing fraud, provided these interests are not overridden by User rights.
- Legal Obligations: processing necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject.
Emails and Communication
Transactional Communications
We may send transactional communications to Users to support the operation of the App, including account registration confirmations, notifications related to tournament schedules and updates, and important information regarding changes to the platform or Services. These communications are essential for the functioning of the Services.
Push Notifications
We may send push notifications about tournament updates, match results, new challenges, and club activity. Users can opt out of push notifications at any time through their device settings.
Data Retention
Personal Data shall be processed and stored for as long as required by the purpose for which it was collected. We retain User Personal Data for as long as the User’s account is active or as needed to provide the Services. If a User deletes their account, we will delete their Personal Data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal obligations or for the purposes of bringing or defending legal claims.
Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period, except when used to strengthen the security or improve the functionality of the App.
Data Security
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect User Personal Data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will promptly notify Users and/or the relevant supervisory authorities in compliance with applicable laws.
International Data Transfers
User information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than the User’s country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws of the User’s country. We take appropriate measures to ensure that Personal Data remains protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If a transfer of Personal Data is made to a country outside the European Union/European Economic Area, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
User Rights
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right of Access: obtain confirmation of whether we process your Personal Data and request a copy.
- Right to Rectification: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data.

- Right to Restriction: request that we restrict processing of your Personal Data under certain circumstances.
- Right to Data Portability: receive your Personal Data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and transmit it to another controller.
- Right to Object: object to processing of your Personal Data based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent to process your Personal Data. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
- Right to Lodge a Complaint: bring a claim before your competent data protection authority.
How to Exercise Your Rights
Any requests to exercise User rights can be directed to us at info@turnis.app. These requests will be addressed free of charge and within 30 days.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where applicable). We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under these ages. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from a child without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information promptly.
Third-Party Links
The App may contain links to external sites or services that are not operated by us. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. Users are advised to review the privacy policy of every website or service they access.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify Users of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the “Last updated” date. Users are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes are effective when posted.
Should the changes affect processing activities performed on the basis of the User’s consent, we shall collect new consent from the User where required.
